Working experience and occupation | Ms. Kam Wai Peng ("Ms. Kam") is a highly experienced finance professional with over 30 years of expertise in financial management, corporate governance, mergers & acquisitions, and business transformation. She has held key leadership roles across diverse industries, including healthcare, aviation, financial services, and oil & gas. She is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). She holds a Diploma in Commerce (Financial Accounting) from Tunku Abdul Rahman College and obtained her ACCA qualification in 1994. Ms. Kam began her career in auditing before moving into corporate finance, where she took on senior leadership roles in major organizations. At Asia OneHealthcare Sdn Bhd, she served as Group Financial Controller, where she restructured financial reporting to enhance operational insights for shareholders and led key initiatives in mergers & acquisitions, divestments, and risk management. She also spearheaded the implementation of a new ERP system within 18 months. Prior to this, she was the Chief Financial Officer at AirAsia Berhad, overseeing financial operations and working closely with treasury and tax teams to ensure regulatory compliance and efficient fund repatriation across multiple countries. Her experience also includes serving as Group CFO at GHL Systems Berhad, where she revamped financial processes and successfully negotiated tax savings in the Philippines. At Petronas ICT Sdn Bhd, she played a strategic role in aligning financial performance with the company's long-term goals while overseeing finance, procurement, legal, and shared services. Earlier in her career, she played a crucial role at Transmile Group Berhad, leading a major financial restructuring effort, and at VADS Berhad, where she was involved in the company's listing on the Second Board of the stock exchange, then subsequently its transfer of listing on the Main Board. |
